About Sturgis Municipal Airport

Sturgis Municipal Airport (TWT) serves general aviation traffic across Western Kentucky and Southern Illinois. Originally built in 1942 as Sturgis Army Airfield, the site played an important role in WWII troop training before being transferred to local ownership in 1948 and reborn as a municipal airport. With a well-maintained 5,000-foot runway, modern amenities, on-field recreational space, and convenient access to local attractions, the airport plays a key role in connecting the region while supporting aviation, commerce, and community development.
